Archbishop Paul’s homily truly captured the essence of who we are as Cenacle. He was generous in his gratitude to all the Cenacle Sisters who have lived and served in the Archdiocese of Wellington and throughout Aotearoa NZ and Australia.

His homily was personal and stirred a renewed sense of our Cenacle vocation within us and our Cenacle Companions, many of whom were able to be present in person and online from Australia. He encouraged all those present to truly encounter God.

On behalf of the Community Sister Mary J Kay was warm and inclusive in all that she said, reminding us of our French links with the first Bishop of Aotearoa NZ, Bishop Pompallier SM, visits to the Lyon Cenacle in 1860 and 1869.

These historical encounters reminding us that the Cenacle, the Upper Room, is so much more than a physical space. It is a heart space. It is a sacred place where intentional listening leads to genuine encounter, reconciliation, healing, and renewal for mission.
