For the feast of Saint Thérèse Couderc, here are some elements of reflection and prayer shared in different parts of the world.
× Holiness in Dayly Life
“The Saints are not supermen, nor were they born perfect. […] They are people who, before reaching the glory of heaven, lived normal lives with joys and sorrows, struggles and hopes. […] When they recognized God’s love, they followed it with all their heart without reserve or hypocrisy.”
Pope Francis, Angelus, 1st November 2013
With grateful remembrance, we want to celebrate her unconditional gift and the richness of her spiritual life. Saint Thérèse let herself be met by Christ and followed his path of fidelity and love. Her life witness continues to be a stimulus for us, a light, a source of inspiration and strength to pursue our mission. The power of God’s love made fruitful her life. Let her teachings, her words, which are still attractive and inspiring today, resonate within us, and let the many people who come to our homes to drink from this same source. St. Thérèse’s holiness was expressed in everyday life, in the small, the simple, the occasional, always eager to be animated by the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

× A quote to revisit "Self-Surrender"
I came across a quote on surrender which immediately made me
think of Mother Thérèse.
“In any moment, we have a choice in how we greet life. Either we meet it with a clenched fist or an open palm. Control or surrender. Either as a problem to be solved, or a mystery to be lived. Control was, and still is, very much in fashion. … Yet, I have learned that it is an open palm that invites us to surrender to a dance with a much larger web of life.”

× Meditation on Goodness
In New Zealand our sisters celebrated the feast of our Foundress early with the Cenacle Associates. Two Associates led the prayer. Here’s an invitation to reflect on Goodness by Deb P.
Te pai ora katoa * The Goodness of all things
“I saw written as in letters of gold this word Goodness, which I repeated for a long while with an indescribable sweetness. I saw it, I say, written on all creatures, animate and inanimate, rational or not, all bore this name of goodness. I saw it even on the chair I was using as a kneeler. I understood then that all that these creatures have of good and all the services and aid that we receive from each of them is a blessing that we owe to the goodness of our God, who has communicated to them something of his infinite goodness, so that we may meet it in every thing and everywhere.”
Thérèse Couderc to Mother de Larochenégly, 10 August 1866
