Enlarged General Councils (EGC) are highlights in the life of our Congregation. They allow us to reflect on the life of the Congregation today. While deepening our reflection on our current orientations, we began the preparation for the next General Chapter, which will take place in two years. The theme of this meeting was: “Of clay and gold: unleashing our potential for life by embracing creative tensions and integrating our fragilities.”
The experience was all the more powerful as we had just lived a congregational retreat all together, across the world. This retreat was experienced as a pilgrimage through the landscapes of those who preceded us up to the landscape of 2026. Sr. Patricia shares the steps experienced during this retreat.
Our opening prayer brought this powerful experience to life again through meaningful gestures. To the lyrics of the song “Standing on the Shoulders” by Joyce Johnson Rouse, we welcomed the portraits of our founders, the list of our deceased Sisters, and the photo directory of our living sisters. This allowed us to realize the grace of living this EGC during this Bicentenary year, which invites us to look at our history with gratitude in order to turn toward the future with confidence.
Another highlight was the meeting with Pope Leo XIV after the general audience.
