What a wonderful way to conclude the first International Meeting of Secretaries in the Cenacle!
Led by Sr. Susay Valdez, General Secretary, the participants — together with the General Superior, Sr. Véronique Fabre and members of the Generalate community — joined hundreds of consecrated persons for the Jubilee Mass at St. Peter’s Square on the morning of October 9. Representing the General House and the provinces/region of Asia, Brazil, Europe-Togo, Madagascar, and North America, the Cenacle Sisters gathered in joy and unity for this significant celebration.
Pope Leo XIV presided over the Eucharistic celebration, offering a profound reflection on the words of Jesus: “Ask, seek, and knock.” In his homily, the Pope beautifully connected these words with the evangelical counsels:
“‘To ask,’ in fact, is to recognize, through poverty, that everything is a gift from the Lord and to give thanks for it. ‘To seek’ is to open oneself, through obedience, to discovering each day the path we must take on the journey towards holiness, following God’s plans. ‘To knock’ is to ask for and to offer the gifts we have received to our brothers and sisters with a chaste heart, striving to love everyone with respect and generosity.”
Sr. Beth Cruz also served as a Volunteer Staff member. She helped prepare and distribute participants’ kits. At the Jesuit General Curia, their team provided assistance to the members of the new forms of consecrated life during their formation workshop on Spiritual Conversation, facilitated by Fr. David McCallum, SJ.
This Jubilee was a grace-filled experience — a testament to how the Spirit continues to inspire, call, and create new pathways for God’s people to respond with love and fidelity. In a world often marked by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, the prophetic witness of consecrated life remains a sign of hope and transformation.
