It is selfless love which leads Mary to travel miles to the home of Zachariah and Elizabeth. Imagine her excitement when she finally reaches their home and the tenderness with which she and Elizabeth embrace each other. Try to feel the tenderness of their embrace.
Listen intently to Elizabeth’s exclamation of joy:
“Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
Why should I be honored with a visit from the mother of my Lord?”
Luke 1:42
Reflect on Elizabeth’s question. Ask yourself, “Why should I be honored by my Lord who dwells within me?”
“For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leaped
for joy.”
Luke 1: 43
Let your own inner spirit experience the excitement of fulfilled promises and the spiritual joy this final week of Advent.

Visitation in the Church of the Annunciation in Ein Karen, Israel.
For Mary, all comes from God THEREFORE all praise and thanksgiving belong to God. Spontaneously, she responds to Elizabeth with her song of thanksgiving:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of my God
Who has done marvels for me…”
Advent calls us to embrace a heart full of gratefulness for God’s goodness to us in the past and especially now as we journey through this final week of Advent. What is your prayer of gratefulness for the marvels God has done for you yesterday, last week, last month or in past years?
